Oprah has been talking about her weight for my entire lifetime. Since when has she ever been ashamed to talk about it? So self-serving and ridiculous.

I remember this as well. I guess it's easy to gloss over given how adored she is. It's the celebrity-tinted glasses that make it difficult for people to notice how blatant all of this is.

I remember my mom and her friends discussing Oprah's yo-yo dieting adventures and the supermarket tabloid magazine covers. This woman has been gaining and losing the same 50 lbs for 40 years. I wonder how her Ozempic journey will treat her.

I enjoyed the article very much. Sounds like more information about it should begin to show up as more and more people take it. My interest is casual only, but I have sympathy for those who think this could be the final fix.

Unfortunately, that's how many pharmaceuticals operate. Most drugs enter the market as a Phase 4 clinical trial product which essentially is done to look for long-term consequences in a larger population, and it's usually here where noticeable signals of harm may arise. It's just frustrating that the messaging has always been that people shouldn't expect a magic pill and should find strength within themselves to lose the weight. Now the message is to become dependent on a drug and to not cave into "diet culture" and "unhealthy beauty standards".

I did not know what GLP-1 RA was... So I looked it up on the NIH’s National Library of Medicine. Here’s the link;

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK551568/

I certainly hope WW has done their homework and will explain the side effects of this drug to their trusting clients.

From the NIH horse’s mouth...

Adverse Effects

The most frequently exhibited side effects from GLP-1 agonists include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea that could lead to an acute kidney injury due to volume contraction. Dizziness, mild tachycardia, infections, headaches, and dyspepsia may also occur.

[Patients should receive counseling that this class of drugs increases satiety, and transient, mild nausea may occur if they attempt to eat while feeling full.] Emphasis is mine...

Increasing the dosage of these medications should occur slowly if nausea is present. Injection-site pruritus and erythema are also common, most notably with the longer-acting medications in this class.[10][23][12]

There is a low risk of minor episodes of hypoglycemia; however, research has not described any major hypoglycemic episodes at this time. Patients can form antibodies to particular GLP-1 analogs that could affect the efficacy of these medications, particularly with exenatide. This immunogenicity could lead to injection site reactions and even potential anaphylaxis. Studies have shown that these adverse effects typically lead to an overall low discontinuation rate of around ten percent.[9][24][25] Anti-drug antibodies were more common, and titers were higher with the weekly dosed formulation of exenatide than with the twice-daily formulation of exenatide.[26]

Combination therapy with GLP-1 agonists and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors is not a current recommendation due to statistically insignificant glycemic improvement and enhanced hypoglycemic effects. The interactions between GLP-1 agonists and other oral anti-diabetic medications remain unclear.[8][27]

SO... this will be what people can look forward to, paying for weekly injections of pain and suffering to lose their weight. Is this GLP-1 an Antabuse for overeaters? Is losing weight over time in an organic and healthy manor now just blasé and un trendy?

Guess who makes this drug? AstraZenaca; https://www.astrazeneca.com/media-centre/press-releases/2023/agreement-with-eccogene-for-clinical-stage-glp-1ra.html#:~:text=AstraZeneca%20and%20Eccogene%20have%20entered,diabetes%20and%20other%20cardiometabolic%20conditions.

Who is in development of GLP-1 RA? Pfizer; https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-provides-update-glp-1-ra-clinical-development

Which means that, GLP-1 RA is brought to you by the makers of the untested mRNA therapy jab used on people during the recent CoVid Pandemic Era Test Event.

All I can say is BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!

I've actually covered a lot of these products before. I just kept it off of this article because I've linked them so many times in previous articles and didn't want it to look too redundant and self-referential. But here are a few of the ones I've posted already:

https://moderndiscontent.substack.com/p/whats-going-on-with-the-ozempic-craze

https://moderndiscontent.substack.com/p/pfizers-stocks-take-another-hit-after

https://moderndiscontent.substack.com/p/users-of-ozempic-like-drugs-report

https://moderndiscontent.substack.com/p/study-notes-high-rates-of-gastrointestinal

https://moderndiscontent.substack.com/p/fda-updates-ozempic-label-to-include

Like with anything it doesn't seem like many of the people pushing these products are being forthright in covering these drugs, only pushing for people to take them and become dependent upon them.

This interview with Kelly and Bari was, in effect a promotion for Ozempic, whether Megyn meant for it to be or not. A ton of people watch or listen her show, I’m one of them. It was bizarre.

BTW, I was able to see the Rumble video from your link

Thanks, rumble is back (for now) I forgot about her YT channel. I’m not a fan or watch her episodes all the time but you are right some people do. My husband told me about someone that was getting shots to lose weight after he failed with exercise plus for what he told me the wife didn’t help much. (Motivation) normal people doesn’t have a 24/7 Dr. Like some of this RICH people.

The video works now for me as well. To put it lightly, the entire thing comes from a position of ignorance. I doubt Megyn Kelly/her crew as well as Bari Weiss/her crew have delved into the drug and so they are only operating on what the media tells them. This is what I've echoed a lot with this new era- just give someone something that is better than nothing, have the public prop up the drug and defend it from critics, and now we normalize these medications.

Unfortunately the rumble link doesn't seem to work. In regards to the reports of overdose it should be noted that a lot of unlabeled or "at home" forms of these drugs are being given to people for much cheaper prices, and so I wouldn't be surprised if that is adding to the poison control reports.

As to some of the dosing issues I think this is a serious consequence of not informing people about what these drugs are and how dosing works, so someone thinks this will help them magically lose weight and so they can just keep taking a ton until they shed all the pounds they want. It's like turning an oven to 500 and expecting a cake to bake in half the time when all you'll be left with is a giant burnt hockey puck.

Yeah.. I’m sorry. Rumble is been having issues for couple days now but I just found the YT video https://youtu.be/qoFp-kI6xBM?si=O0CURvtnylDg8M8q

"A lot of people look up to Oprah as a source of mentorship, inspiration and guidance,"??? Are any Lahaina or Hawaiians among them??? That is the same Oprah who bought out major portions of Maui, yes? The same island where the Natives had to leave everything, the entire Lahaina beach areas because the 'new normal fire' made the entire are no more inhabitable, for now.. Oprah is lucky while having bought out the safer lands down there.. Entire post on this at: https://mejbcart.substack.com/p/honor-the-indigenous-people-of-hawaii

Btw. everything is connected and I just wonder, GLP-1 is so much connected with IL-6, which stimulates its production, BUT IL-6 is also the major marker for covid, the heavy one...

Any ringing bells there?
