I haven't paid heed to "cultural" news since forever it seems, so I've been blissfully unaware of this particular unfolding. However,I became aware of the changed ACLU over the past three years, realizing that ACLU was nowhere to be heard from in the media censorship and on line censorship of all things covid that don't follow the approved "narrative". The old ACLU would have been front and center on the new Ministry Of Truth.
Also, I forgot to comment that Amber Heard's 7 million that she received after the divorce was intended to be split and donated to charity, with one group being ACLU. If possible you may want to see the direct from the hearing as it really indicates that the ACLU was no an innocent bystander and had a much bigger hand in drafting Heard's Op-Ed. It raises questions as to why an institution like the ACLU is meddling in the issues of individuals.
I honestly would not be surprised if the ACLU was PART of the Ministry of Truth. I would encourage you to read the NYT article as it really highlights a lot of the issues going with the ACLU's perceived attempt to focus more on social justice causes rather than constitutional civil liberties.
Thanks, I read a good chunk of it, then just got disgusted by it all. I always thought of myself as a progressive, until the pandemic, and since have wondered how my old liberal progressive friends became such fascists. People who protested nuclear, Iraq, WEF battle of Seattle, everything, and knew how well the state lies, bought in to the narrative: hook, line, and sinker. And the vaccine is a real sinker. They've all had serious health problems since getting jabbed.
I haven't quite figured out my political leanings. I remember in high school we had to take a survey to see our political leanings in my government class and I got libertarian. I kept asking what libertarian was but I don't remember getting a response- I suppose it was too out there to provide an explanation for a student? 🤷♂️
But more important than political leanings are examining where our beliefs lie and go to where they seem appropriate, rather than aligning ourselves with parties who couldn't care less about our own wellbeing.
Ahh! Just remember, no belief is true. No story is true. My beliefs blind me to what is.
My only story is I perceive, therefore I am (sorry Descartes, no thinking necessary), and that I don't really know anything. It frees me to be fresh in the moment.
