Request for fall topics ππ
For any autumnal topics that you may have questions for.
Well, fall seems to have come a lot quicker than realized. In trying to expand and provide more diverse topics for this Substack Iβve released several seasonal posts.
Unfortunately, I skipped out on some posts related to summer so thereβs been a bit of a lag in things related to the heat and humidity. I think Iβll survive- I find that summer isnβt my favorite time of the year.
In contrast, fall has to be one of my most favorite times. The leaves begin to change, the air gets cooler and gets perfumed with the smell ever so reminiscent of fall. The sun also hits things at just the right angle to cast longer shadows, and dawn just has that special glow to it now.
As always, I will continue to cover science and COVID-related topics, but sometimes we need a bit more than just things related to COVID.
So if anyone has any idea for a fall topic donβt hesitate to provide some thoughts.
Here are a few released last year, which include some topics such as the science behind autumn colors as well as some background on pumpkins.
I started a post about pumpkin pie spice around two years ago that took a bit too long. Iβd have to go digging to find that, but if anyone is interested in such topics as well as others please let me know!
Now, to get things started- Halloween music!
Iβve found that it can be a bit difficult to focus at times and get deep into reading and writing my articles.. I tend to get easily distracted by outside noises, and so at some point Iβve turned to listening to those jazz livestreams. Youβve likely seen them before. Theyβre some livestream mentioning [today] jazz music.
This is one of many examples out there:
But with Halloween approaching- and yes it is approaching, and I definitely havenβt already put up Halloween decorations- Iβve taken to listening to some ambient Halloween related music instead. Thereβs honestly not much to it besides some random crow or ghost noises which can sometimes be a bit too quiet to drown out any background noise.
However, in looking around for different styles of ambient music I came across this interesting playlist of Halloween music from throughout the decades. Alright, Iβm being a bit generous with how Halloween music is being categorized (probably more accurate to say Halloween-related), but nonetheless itβs rather remarkable to think about the cultural influence certain holidays have since such things are usually saved for Christmas.
Iβve grown to become more nostalgic and sentimental in recent months, and so stumbling across this was a rather nice change of pace:
For those looking for something more unorthodox, several years back a game came out for the Nintendo 3DS called Bravely Default. Itβs a typical JRPG which has sort of run its course in many circles.
Although the game isnβt related to Halloween in particular, there is one song that plays during specific boss fights which is very reminiscent of Halloween. The name of the song is nothing special - Baβal Boss Theme, but itβs quite remarkable to think about how much work was put into a handheld game.
Anyways, enjoy your Sunday, enjoy the last bits of summer, and please let me know of any fall-related topics. This also includes anything related to Halloween! Hey, we all need a bit of a break from constant COVID topics, right?

It's not fall quite yet. Summer is short enough. Let's not end it 10 days early.
How about "The Fall of Man". Just kidding, but it might nevertheless somehow be relevant to our situation.
