The dependency on titles and degrees can be more damaging than beneficial. COVID has shown us this.
Recently there’s been growing disdain against the educated elite, or people who tend to tout their importance through the degrees they hold or the colleges they went to.
Such arguments tend to refute the appeals to credentialism, or the reliance on formal degrees and certifications as a means of examining a person’s ability to assess or undertake a task.
Of course, such ideas have proven quite damaging. The shift in universities towards becoming degree mills has led to an oversaturation of formally educated individuals.
