In finding things to be thankful for.
A few remarks on why we should embrace the things that we have, and not focus on what we don't.
With Thanksgiving coming up the thought of being thankful lingers on many peoples minds.
Well, OK maybe not everyone’s.
I suppose much of it it depends on who you are with and what you have to be thankful for.
It’s hard to look at what’s been going on the past few years and not feel pure sadness and morose.
The loss of life, the loss of livelihood, and the loss of friendships has made the past few holiday seasons rather difficult for many.
Rather than bearing great tidings we may find ourselves bearing animosity or resentment. It’s bad enough when you spend time with those who you already have contempt for before the pandemic, so add on a bit of COVID zealotry, paranoia, and political divisiveness and it makes it harder to see others without in the same way.
So it may seem like a tall ask to wonder what people have to be thankful this coming Thanksgiving. I mean, is there really much to be thankful for? And who would really be deserving so such thankfulness?
